Salads are absolutely a happy craving to many of us in the spring and summer months! Are you feelin it? As the tender little green shoots make their way out of the warm soil of our new garden endeavor, I can’t stop grinning. The anticipation of home-grown, heirloom vegetables without any scary pesticides and without a high price tag has this mom squiggling with glee. Meanwhile, all the fresh goods at the farmer’s markets and local-buying grocery stores make wonderful dinner salads. And we all know that every good salad needs that little drizzle of dressing to keep the forks diving in!
But friend, have you actually read an ingredient list on store-bought dressings lately? Soy-based products and canola oils are in the “better” varieties, but those two items are not beneficial to the body. Not at all! Making home-made dressings is super easy! You won’t believe the flavors and the low cost and the ease!
And did you know that kefir makes a wonderful dressing base? I have been playing around with dressing recipes for some time and am happy to share with you a really simple home-made, creamy ranch dressing made with kefir! I LOVE the flavor, and the probiotic powers that you just added to your favorite summer salad will bless your body head to toe! Digestive health is the KEY to the body’s total experience of health, and kefir is a wonder-food perfectly suited to flood your system with untold goodness!
To make the CREAMY KEFIR RANCH DRESSING, whisk together the following ingredients:
1 cup of second fermented kefir
1 cup of organic sour cream
1 – 1 1/2 tablespoons dried or fresh dill
1/2 teaspoon real salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Feel free to adjust the seasonings to your desired taste.
